COVID-19 News

As you well know, PNW Comedy has had to cease nearly all operations in order to fully comply with the governor of Oregon’s social distancing order. And while this was difficult, we know that taking this break away from the public is the right thing to do in order to make sure everyone has the ability to come out to a show when it is fully safe.

But, that doesn’t mean we can’t try to make comedy things happen in the meantime! Before COVID, August was when the Oregon Comedy Competition was going to swing into full gear; we had planned seven shows across the state in Bend, McMinnville, Medford, Forest Grove/Hillsboro, Portland, and Eugene. Unfortunately, live shows in these cities will not go on as planned. But! We have the next best thing planned… LIVE ONLINE SHOWS with real audiences!

PNW Comedy is happy to announce that the Oregon Comedy Competition this year will be all online and will have a Grand Prize of $600. As always, there will be NO SUBMISSION FESS and the winner will be chosen by the audience!

And how is PNW Comedy doing this? We’re partnering with one of the top Facebook comedy networks to distribute this competition online across the nation… and the world!  Submissions open August 1st with more news to come in the following days.

Thanks for supporting live comedy and we’ll see you all soon with some jokes!

The 2019 Oregon Comedy Competition

It is an honor to announce that in its first year, The Oregon Comedy Competition has about 30 comics participating from seven different states and the District Of Columbia (Oregon, Washington, California, Nevada, Hawaii, Michigan, Rhode Island, and D.C.).

Oregon ComedyI’m absolutely thrilled that I get to have the OCC’s home for a majority of the shows be The Diversity Cafe & Catering in Forest Grove! It’s a great business and a terrific room for comedy that has been incredibly supportive of live, local stand-up on the far west side of the Portland metro area. It’s also great to have my homeroom, The Mac Club McMinnville (home of my other comp, The WOCC), on board to host a First Round night of laughs, audience voting, and live results on Sept 7th! Additionally, PNW Comedy is very excited to expand the First Round of the comp into Central Oregon with an evening of fun on August 17th at The Capitol in Bend!

Are you funny? Pretty good at stand-up? Do you have what it takes to be crowned the Oregon Comedy Competition champion? One good set in one of three First Rounds is all it takes to make it to The Finals for your chance at $500 and stand-up stardom!

What is the OCC? The Oregon Comedy Competition consists of four comedy shows that take place in three different cities across the state of Oregon in August and September of 2019. What’s special about the OCC? Well, the winner isn’t decided by a bunch of comedy good ol’ boys- at the conclusion of each show, the audience votes for who they think was the evening’s best comic and the audience ultimately decides who is crowned the 2019 Oregon Comedy Competition Champion! And the best part? The winner gets $500 cash and future headliner or feature booking at PNW Comedy event(s)!

Any level of comedian FROM ANYWHERE may submit to compete– From the novice comic that has only done a few open mics all the way up to the touring headliner that has been on stage for years and years.  (The show isn’t designed for traveling features/headliners, but we’ll gladly consider them if they’re interested in participating). The comics chosen to participate will be notified no later than June 30th, 2019.
